Poppy and Ollie were married on a sun-soaked May day in the charming village church of rural Ullingswick, Herefordshire — just a gentle amble across a field from her family home. Having the church so close meant the morning preparations were relaxed and meaningful: hair and makeup in the family home, laughter with loved ones, and that magical moment of revealing the bouquet.

For Poppy’s bouquet, I wanted something soft, romantic, and full of movement — a delicate blend of seasonal flowers in whites, blush, and ivory. The large statement blooms were quicksand roses, a nude-toned rose that truly is one of a kind. And of course… peonies — because it simply wouldn’t be a May wedding without them, would it?

To add texture and scent, I included smaller, wispy flowers: white sweet peas, ammi, sweet rocket, and love-in-a-mist, many of which were grown on our Herefordshire flower farm. Apricot lisianthus and apricot stocks added warmth, while astilbe and butterfly ranunculus brought a graceful, dancing movement to the bouquet. The stems were finished with hand-dyed silk ribbons, dyed here in our studio to complement the palette perfectly.

The most nerve-wracking — but deeply rewarding — moment of any wedding morning is revealing the bridal bouquet. Seeing that first smile makes the early mornings, the meticulous planning, and the hours of design work utterly worth it.

With the final touches complete — veil placement by the incredibly talented Michelle Harvard Hair, a heartfelt first look with her dad, and a quick photo with Honey, the beloved family dog — it was time to head to the church.

Ullingswick church is the very picture of an English countryside wedding. We created a floral arch at the entrance to welcome guests and begin their scented journey. Inside, Jo Malone’s Peony & Blush Suede candles filled the air, guiding guests toward windows dressed with foliage, flowers, and candlelight. Overspilling urns of peonies and roses, baskets of petal confetti, and soft, meadow-inspired textures set the tone for a truly romantic ceremony.

With the ‘I do’s’ complete, it was time for photographs beneath the flower-filled church arch. For this arch, we used a heavenly mix of David Austin roses, sweet rocket, sweet peas, stocks, delphiniums, spirea, peonies and spray roses — chosen not only for their beauty, but for their incredible fragrance. There is nothing quite like the scent of flowers surrounding you as your dress brushes past; it makes the moment feel completely magical.

After the vows, guests enjoyed a relaxed walk down the country lane to the marquee — overlooking the lake in the grounds of the family home. The marquee, from Good Intents, was transformed into a floral haven with urns, bud vases, trailing foliage, and sparkling glass chandeliers.

Soft blush linens and glass charger plates set the foundation for a refined tablescape, while personalised menus rested on folded linen napkins. A tambourine at each place added a touch of whimsy and joy — a detail so perfectly ‘Poppy and Ollie’.

After dinner, Poppy slipped into her second dress — a playful, glittering mini covered in sequins — ready for the evening’s celebrations. Dancing, fireworks, and pure joy followed, ending the night in the most unforgettable way.
